Nashville...

Some of you may have heard the news already (no I am not pregnant!) but for some of you this may be the first time you have even heard so much as a word about Nashville... so here goes- Shane got the job opportunity of a life time!

As most of you know, Shane has played the guitar since he was 7 and was in a band through most of high school that eventually got signed by a major label- Interscope Records. After months on tour in a bus with his band mates, Shane was ready to get off the road and start working towards a career that would support a family. He decided to move back home and go to school to be a computer programmer. We eventually reconnected and moved in together. During the past two years Shane has been a full time student preparing to transfer to California State University of Chanel Islands. The plan was for him to transfer this coming fall in hopes to be finished in a year and a half, however, a curve ball was thrown into his lap that couldn't be ignored.
Our good friend Jon moved to Nashville about 6 months ago with his boss Desmond Child, a music producer, to continue perusing his career in writing and producing music. Due to the cost in California right now, that is where most of the industry is relocating. During an annual review/meeting it was decided that they needed to expand and stop outsourcing talent and begin creating their own creative department. That's when Shane got a call from Jon. For those of you who don't know, Jon is Shane's cousin Kelli's, boyfriend. Get all that! :)
Shane went to Sound Engineering school after High School, was the lead singer and guitar player in his band, wrote the entire second album (lyrics and instruments included) and has been writing music via his computer even since- thus marking him very qualified for the position. Once I got word of this I asked him one question "what are you most passionate about?" and he replied "music". What's great about this is that Shane can do what he loves without having to be on tour and performing on stage. He can write and produce music himself. There is an incredible future for the both of us in this career path. Not only will we get the experience of moving to out of California (even though we'll only be gone a few years) but there is a great future in the industry financially- and we'll be able to save a lot of money.
Desmond Child (google him) is one of the top 5 music producers in the industry and the fact that Shane has been given the opportunity to work with him is unimaginable! He has produced such artists as Bon Jovi, Kelli Clarkson, Aerosmith, Meatloaf, Scorpions, Cher, Ricki Martin... the list goes on! For Shane, being able to work with such a person is great because it's like having your own music produced for free. When Desmond first heard a few of Shane's songs, he closed his eyes and said "this is brilliant!" Nothing compares to a compliment like that!
So, last Friday Shane and I drove out to Santa Monica, where he met with Desmond for almost an hour and a half and it went great! It was decided that Shane would write up a proposal and fly out to Nashville for a month long trial to make sure he liked the area and that the job was going to work out for him- before we make the big move out there! Yes- that means I will of course be making the move with him.
Shane will be leaving this week and I will stay behind until he's been out there a week or so and gives me the official OK to put in our 30 day notice at our apartment. It's also important to me that I leave my job with enough time to find someone to replace me and train them. It is going to be limbo land for me for a while and being without Shane won't make it any easier. We will be home frequently- so it's not like we're gone for good- by the way! So if any of you have any extra air miles- we're taking donations!
We have the best family and more support than we could have ever imagined! We feel truly blessed!
There is going to be a lot to manage over the next few weeks and I will do my best to keep you all posted!
Love to ALL and Happiest of New Years!

Please feel free to pass this email onto anyone I might have left out or don't have emails for.
